Malaysia's public data is rich, current, and free. It is also, for most people, completely out of reach.
Every year, DOSM publishes over 300 reports — labour force figures, inflation data, trade statistics, demographic breakdowns by state and district. These reports are funded by taxpayers and released openly. But they live in PDFs that AI systems cannot read, and in formats that ordinary Malaysians were never meant to navigate alone.
At Labs, we are building the Knowledge Graph: a verified database of Malaysian facts that powers honest AI answers for everyone. Today, we are opening it up for you to help build it.
This is the Malim Knowledge Contributor Program. We call our contributors Porters.
Why Porter?
On Mount Kinabalu, the porter is the backbone of every climb. They carry the weight — the supplies, the equipment, the essentials — so that others can reach the peak. They do not ask for recognition at the summit. They take responsibility for making the journey possible for everyone else.
That is the spirit we are building this programme around.
A Malim Porter carries knowledge — from dense government PDFs into structured, AI-readable data that every Malaysian can benefit from. The work is methodical. The impact outlasts the effort.
What Porters Do
Porters select official publications and extract the key statistics and metadata using AI tools, verify every figure against the original source, and submit structured entries for review. Approved entries enter the Malim Knowledge Graph and power AI answers across the platform.
The rule is simple: AI extracts. You verify and edit. Every data point must trace back to a source a human confirmed was true.
Your 90-day contribution window is self-paced. No cohorts, no fixed schedule — just a commitment to the work.
Before your first submission, porter will need to complete a two-week orientation covering generative AI fundamentals and prompt engineering through four free external online courses. This is your foundation, not a formality.
Recognition
Contributors are recognised based on approved entries at the close of their 90-day window.
🏅 Contributor — Meet a minimum of 10 approved entries and receive the Malim Knowledge Contributor Certificate.
⭐ Distinguished Contributor — Achieve 100 or more approved entries and receive the Best Performance Certificate alongside 100 Malim Seek queries (valued at RM 50, credited directly to your member.malim.my account).
Who Should Apply
This programme is open to all Malaysians. You do not need a data science background. You need curiosity, care, and the willingness to verify before you submit.
